Code of Ethics:(Part I)

  • The member shall grant the first one hour visit to the client without charge to provide both client and counselor the opportunity to discover if the client is in the right place and is aware that the office is a “Christian” counselling office. Further to explain the fee schedule and reach an agreement as to method of payment and method of counseling and to answer any questions that the client may have.
  • The member shall complete a case history form on each client before proceeding to counsel.

  • The member shall maintain healthy boundaries between the client and the counselor at all times.
  •   The member shall not continue counseling beyond a reasonable period.

    •  The member shall not engage in an after hours social life with the client. 

    •  The member must maintain an up to date police report on themselves and may be presented to the client if requested.

  •   The member must maintain Insurance coverage on their practice to protect the public at all times. 

    •  The member shall carry on counseling in the context of the counseling office only.

    The member must reframe from physical contact with the client at all times. 

    Code of Conduct:

    •  Every member must renew their membership each year to remain a member in good standing

    •  Every member must complete (with proof) a minimum of _______ hours of continuing education per year to maintain membership.

    •  Every member shall submit themselves to the authority of the college and its regulations.

     

         
     
   

Organization:

  Executive Committee

  • The Executive Committee shall manage affairs of the College when the Council is not in session. They shall prepare the agenda for Council meetings. Prepare resources to deal with issues before Council.

  Registration Committee  

  • The Registration Committee shall be responsible to receive applications from individuals who wish to belong to and be certified by the College. To ensure the applicant is a Christian, the applicant has had adequate training and practical experience.

  Membership Committee  

  • The Membership Committee shall be responsible for registering members with the College. They shall examine each application for approval for membership with the College. They shall be responsible to insure that members comply with the requirements of membership. They shall promote membership enrollment. They shall maintain accurate membership records that are updated as required.

 Complaints Committee

  • The Complaints Committee shall be responsible to receive complaint from the public we serve, to evaluate the complaint to determine appropriate action. To inquire of the counsellor involved as to the facts surrounding the complaint, to issue correspondence to the complainant as to their findings and conclusion, to forward the complaint on to the Discipline Committee for action if and as required.  

 Discipline Committee

  • The Discipline Committee shall be responsible to advise the member of a complaint and that the discipline committee has been given the file for action. The Committee shall require the defendant to appear before the committee for action on the case.
  • The capacity of the committee to act shall include: placing restrictions on the certification of the member, require further or additional training, or a period of suspension or require to individual not to practice alone but have another person in the practice at all times when a client is being counseled, or remove the certification permanently.

 PLIC Committee

  • The Public Liability Insurance Committee shall be responsible to work with an Insurance Company to provide insurance coverage to the members of the College, to act on behalf of the membership to interface with the Insurance Company when a claim is filed, to insure that all requirements of the Insurance Company are complied with by the members to maintain insurance coverage. The committee shall insure that every member is covered by insurance as a prerequisite to holding membership. (The cost of insurance coverage shall be included in the annual membership fee.)

 Communications Committee

  • The Communications Committee shall be responsible for sending out all communications to the membership as required. Each committee chairperson shall forward information to be communicated to the membership to the communications committee for publication to the members.


    Code of Ethics: (Part II)

     

    •  If demanded by the College the member must surrender their certificate and membership card (without refund) to the executive of the College.

     

    •  In the event of a complaint being filed against a member. The member must respond and reply to questions asked by the Complaints Committee.

    •  In the event a member is requested to appear before the Discipline Committee of the College, the member must appear on the date agreed upon.

    •  In the event that the Executive and or the Discipline Committee should render a finding of guilty, the member must comply with the penalty prescribed by the College.

    •  Members must remain within the Fee schedule set out by the College. The Fee schedule may be revised from time to time by the College.

    •  All information submitted to the College by a member or prospective member must be complete and accurate. Disinformation will result in the candidate being disqualified as

    •  A member.

    •  A member's office must be open to inspection by an authorized member of the Executive of the College if and when required.

    •  Every member shall maintain complete “hard copy” records on each and every client.

    •  Records must include: Date of appointment, time of appointment, length of appointment,

    •  Fee charged for each appointment, along with complete written notes on the clients case

    •  and the counsellors recommendations.

    •  All records must remain as part of the counsellors archives for a period of time indefinite.

    •  No one shall hold themselves out as a member of the College without an up to date membership card.
